The juggernaut that constituted pop music in 1966 continued unabated as Summer rolled around.

Try to imagine hearing all of these songs for the first time in period of 30-40 days just boggles my mind. The inspiration caused by the British Invasion started to bear fruit here in America, causing one of the richest eras in pop music history. The best of the British groups were all peaking while experimenting with new sounds. At the same time, America had music coming out of garages and basements all over the country, and some of it was good enough to compete on a national level, while R&B slowly made its transition to ‘soul’ music.
