Transistor Days: March 1966
Episode 38
Episode date - September 11, 2020
Imagine a time when pop music was so good that new releases from one single month would prove to become perennial classics for the ages.
March 1966 was such a month. If you were alive and listening to your transistor radio that month, you would have heard all of these songs for the very first time. One of the main drivers of this remarkable uptick in great music was that America was finally up to the task of meeting the British Invasion head on, adding a homegrown diversity to the sound of classic pop music. Undoubtedly, you then would have gone to the five-and-dime to buy your favorites for about 70 cents a pop. To be sure, this was a remarkable time for pop music.
