Transistor Days: The Spring of '67 - Part 1
Episode 46
Episode date - November 6, 2020
As is pretty much typical for this era, it is impossible to move too quickly through this this period lest you want to neglect some obviously influential and important pop hits.
Here we are, just a few months before the ‘Summer or Love’, but although there was a distinct ‘something’ in the air, we could not have predicted the future because, quite simply by the Spring of ’67, we were already living it.
History was being made with each song, but back then, it just felt normal. It wasn’t, as we hope to convey with the following song selections, all from February and March of 1967:
Dedicated to the One I l Love – The Mamas and the Papas
A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You – The Monkees
I Think We’re Alone Now – Tommy James & the Shondells
Bernadette – The Four Tops
There’s a Kind of Hush – Herman’s Hermits
I Never Loved a Man The Way I Love You – Aretha Franklin
Jimmy Mack – Martha Reeves and the Vandellas
The Happening – The Supremes
Sweet Soul Music – Arthur Conley
I Got Rhythm – The Happenings
Girl, You’ll Be a Woman Soon – Neil Diamond
Friday on My Mind – The Easybeats
