Bob Dylan: Blonde on Blonde - Part 1
Album #56 - June 1966
Episode date - June 22, 2016
In 1966, Bob Dylan released the most iconic album of his career, and most would also say it was his best. “Blonde on Blonde” was a double album, released at a time when most people didn’t even know what that meant.
Dylan’s creativity was pouring out with such ferocity that it could not be contained or edited. One track took up an entire side (“Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands”), but the length only served as an indicator that Dylan was on fire as a songwriter. It was an unsustainable peak, and Dylan would soon vanish from the pop music scene in the wake of “Blonde of Blonde”, which only escalated the intensity of mystery and awe that surrounded this album.
Due to its length, we will need to present this album in two parts, with each show covering two sides. This show features;
1) Rainy Day Women #12 & 35
2) Pledging My Time
3) Visions of Johanna
4) One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later)
5) I Want You
6) Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again
7) Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat
8) Just Like a Woman
