Frank Sinatra: A Swingin' Affair!
Album #12 - May 1957
Episode date - June 21, 2023
“A Swingin’ Affair” was intended to be a continuation of the formula utilized on “Songs for Swingin’ Lovers”, and it succeeded brilliantly.
It may not be quite as perfect as its predecessor, but song for song, you could scramble the tracks and hardly notice, such was the quality of each album. Of course, Sinatra is the star, standing front and center, but Nelson Riddle proved himself to be the secret ingredient that guaranteed success. Riddle’s arrangements are something to behold, and this pair of albums essentially proves that he understood Sinatra and wrote accompaniment that served as the blueprint for others to follow or attempt to beat. No one did.
