The Allman Brothers Band: At The Fillmore East - Part 1
Album #172 - July 1971
Episode date - July 1, 2020
This album is often considered to be the greatest live album ever, and while that praise may sound hyperbolic, I think I agree with that assessment.
I never heard of The Allman Brothers until a few years after this album was released, but when I did, everything changed. My tastes changed overnight from glam to ‘southern rock’, and I suddenly realized why I was taking all of those drum lessons; I needed to be in a band with good, interpretive musicians. As a thirteen-year-old, emulating The Allman Brothers was something of an impossible goal, but it set a standard that I hold in esteem to this very day.
