The Rolling Stones: Between the Buttons
Album #62 - February 1967
Episode date - August 3, 2016
The previous album, “Aftermath,” marked the first time that band had compiled enough of their own original material to fill an album, For their follow-up, Mick and Keith continued to expand their writing output, while simultaneously expanding their horizons.
The mid-sixties presented a brave new world of opportunity for pop artists, so the songwriting team approached new styles that started to redefine and expand the band’s limitations. This marks their first steps toward embracing psychedelia and even touching on English music hall styles. It’s a transitional album and a bit spotty, but still contains some of the band’s best work. As before, the American version is superior to the English counterpart because it adds two hit singles to the lineup. Featured tracks include;
