You know the names. Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Simon and Garfunkel, Glen Campbell, Joe Cocker, Ritchie Valens, the Righteous Brothers, The Beach Boys and literally hundreds of others were all recording stars whose names appeared prominently on the labels of their records.

Little did we know, though, at that time, that there was a group of dedicated studio performers who created a large part of the music for these artists. The studio musicians were professionals who came to work, did their best to make a great track, and then moved on to another session, while the artist received the recognition and glory for the final product.

Carol Kaye was the bass player on so many classic tracks that it is virtually impossible to cover all of them. You know her sound from “The Beat Goes On”, “River Deep Mountain High”, “Good Vibrations” and literally hundreds of other now classic songs. These are songs that changed musical history and Carol was there on the front line, so to speak.

It was our pleasure to talk with Carol, a wonderful conversationalist and a candid straight shooter whose knowledge is admirable and memory is impeccable. We hope you enjoy the show.
