As 1967 rolled around, both Fame and American Studios found themselves getting incredibly busy, and incredibly famous. 

Compared to the gigantic rooms that existed in New York, both were incredibly small, and featured only a handful of musicians who were responsible for the ‘sound’ of each studio. The players were slowly and unwittingly redefining the very shape of soul music, adding a southern flavor to their work that ignored anything resembling a color barrier. When Atlantic Records, decided to utilize the southern players for their newly signed artist Aretha Franklin, music history would be changed forever.
