No doubt about it, the thirties were a tumultuous decade. The first half was plagued by the effects of the Great Depression, only to see things worsen with the onset of a World War in Europe. At first, the United States managed to stay out of the fray, but a nationalistic sense of pride seemed to sweep across the entire planet. Great Britain, perhaps our greatest ally, was directly affected and drawn into the war, and many Americans sympathized with the Allied struggle.

Once again, radio played a huge role, portraying our national identity by providing light entertainment as distraction yet also keeping us informed and up to date. America remained only passively involved, but there lingered a distinct sense that this too would soon change. Featured tracks include:
