“Aretha Now” was Aretha Franklin’s fourth album with Atlantic Records, and it continued the unabated chart success of the previous three albums, with five songs appearing on the Hot 100 pop chart, with three additional singles also charting at this time.

This is the era when Aretha quite rightly was deemed the “Queen of Soul”. Even so, the album was a sort of placeholder, as the label was preparing to set Aretha up with an entire album of jazz-based arrangements. This show features almost all the tracks from “Aretha Now”, all of the a-sides and B-sides of her singles from this period, and even manages to fit in a pair of tracks from the live “Aretha in Paris” album.
