Before Alice Cooper met producer Bob Ezrin, they were pretty much worthless as a commercial entity, making music that not even a mother could love.

Ezrin made all the difference because he was the first producer to provide the band with an aural vision of what they should be. Up to this point, the band did a good job of being outrageous, but without a fan base, most of it was just playtime. Bob Ezrin is one of the most visionary producers of the entire rock and roll era, and it is his input, even more than the band itself, that pushed them to be something almost larger than life, making music that suited their outrageous appearance and stage act but was also commercially appealing.

Amazingly, Ezrin was only Nineteen years old when he produced “Love It to Death”, but the band knew a good thing when they heard it, and they reaped the rewards as well. Ezrin would produce the group’s albums until the band’s breakup, at which Alice Cooper the band became Alice Cooper, the solo act.
