The Badfinger story is a remarkable one, full of incredible highs and astoundingly awful lows.

With the release of their third album the band was finally recouping some of the high points that brought them to this point. They had a pocketful of great songs, and they also had some of the best producers in the world, including Geoff Emerick (who engineered the Beatles’ sessions), George Harrison himself, and then Todd Rundgren.

They were compared to the Beatles so often that they actually grew tired of the compliment. There was certainly some backlash, as the public was still in a snit that the Beatles were no longer together, and a segment of the population saw the band as an unworthy successor, but their hits were undeniable, and anybody who listens to this album retrospectively will surely realize that the band was excellent, despite their affiliations. It’s only a shame that things couldn’t last for them.
