The History of Pink Floyd: A Career in the Movies?
Episode 4
Episode date - May 22, 2026
Seeing as how they lost their primary singer/songwriter, the remainder of Pink Floyd (now including David Gilmour) needed direction.
Each of them was capable of writing songs, but their attempts at writing a hit single proved that none of them had a knack for commerciality, which meant that their opportunity to remain pop stars had virtually evaporated.
Earlier in their career, the band had been approached to provide music for a film, so the idea of being a band that functioned as a source for film music became a serious consideration. This part of this story covers that era when the band found themselves searching for an appropriate direction.
