In the previous two shows, we culled performances from the four shows that Jimi Hendrix performed with Billy Cox and Buddy Miles at the Fillmore East in New York City on 12/31/69 and 1/1/70.

Those shows were historic – and there were four of them – so I did my best to carefully choose performances that represented some of the best highlights from that historic set of shows. While doing so, I deliberately avoided playing versions that Jimi himself chose for public release on his “Band of Gypsys” album (with one exception which I explain during the show), so this show features the recordings that Jimi considered to be the best of the batch, including edits.

It’s worth noting that the band didn’t last long enough to record a studio album or to even perform another full-length live show, so this is both the beginning and the end for the Gypsys, except for a few studio recordings and jams that we will also cover.
