It didn’t quite work out that way, but all expectations were that this would (finally) be the last studio album recorded by the Rolling Stones.

Band communication was virtually nonexistent, and trying to maintain any sense of continuity was next to impossible. “How Can I Stop?” was the last track, and it appeared to be a fitting end to a five decade long career, but to everyone’s surprise – no less the band’s – the Rolling Stones continued on.
