    In retrospect, you can actually discern a difference in rock and roll music from 1973 to 1974. 1973 was an amazingly innovative year, with popular music branching out in a multitude of directions.

    At the time, it seemed like a positive development, but 1974 began to show a few of the problematic results of this trend. ‘Rock and Roll’ was no longer a united style that bound the younger generation together. Instead, we broke off into factions, with some listeners following country rock, others following hard rock, and still others following glam, or progressive-rock, or any of dozens of other hyphenated titles.

    Suddenly, we were no longer unified by music and politics. Instead, they divided us. Long hair was no longer a political statement – it was a fashion choice. Pretty much the same thing happened to our music. This is why I believe that music played a major role in the ‘70s being referred to as the ‘Me’ decade.

    Featured tracks for this show all date from the first quarter of 1974, and include;
