    For a band that is remembered as one of the best singles band’s of the late ‘60s, they sure made some great albums.

    Creedence Clearwater Revival never got the respect that they deserved, and “Green River’ provides plenty of evidence to make my point. Yes, the album is a placeholder for a couple of classic hits, but the songs that surround those two hits provide evidence that the band had much more up its sleeve. John Fogerty had an artistic vision that transcended the top 40, but he framed his art in a form that was deceptively simple and musically powerful. “Green River” was the band’s third album, and it conveys an artistic growth that is undeniable. My only regret is that the album is much too short, clocking in at under thirty minutes. Featured tracks include;

    Green River

    Commotion

    Tombstone Shadow

    Wrote a Song for Everyone

    Bad Moon Rising

    Lodi

    Cross-Tie Walker

    Sinister Purpose

    Night Time Is the Right Time
