    Like Part 12, this show captures a period of transition for the label -- the timeframe where Motown began to realize that it was trying too hard to be everything to everybody.

    We have a hit or two in this lineup, but not at the rate that a casual listener might associate with Motown. The label expected more of itself as well, and began to pull back and concentrate on its strengths, which would soon prove to be quite significant.
