    In 1968, Simon and Garfunkel released their first masterpiece. Their previous albums showed steady and progressive growth from album to album, and “Bookends” nicely captures Paul Simon’s development.

    Never a prolific songwriter, the album shows signs of deliberation. You can almost hear every note and syllable being pored over, analyzed and fine-tuned. This attention to detail helped make “Bookends” one of the best albums in 1968, a banner year for popular music, and it continues to age well.

    By this time, Simon had moved beyond the restraints of folk rock, displaying a diversity of styles that would only continue to grow from this point forward. This show features the album “Bookends” in its entirety, including;
