It may seem hard to believe now, but at this point in time (May 12, 1967), when “Are You Experienced?” was being released in England, America still didn’t have a clue to who Jimi Hendrix was.

In England, Jimi was performing live around the continent, doing live radio appearances with England’s Radio One (among others), and had two hit singles and an album tearing up the charts. In America, there was nothing…yet.
