Transistor Days: Winter 1966
Episode 37
Episode date - September 4, 2020
Well, this is strange…a show about pop music smack dab in the middle of its most renowned era, and yet not a single song by The Beatles or The Rolling Stones (don’t worry, they will most certainly be making appearances soon), and yet some of my all-time favorite pop music is featured in this program.
Most of these songs are quite well known, but a few get overlooked by the ‘perennial acts’ that never really go away, so it’s nice to hear truly great music from the likes of Lou Christie, Herman’s Hermits, Them and Paul Revere and the Raiders, all from January and February 1966.
Tracks include:
Just Like Me – Paul Revere and the Raiders
Mystic Eyes – Them
Lightning Strikes – Lou Christie
Uptight (Everything Is Alright) – Stevie Wonder
My World Is Empty Without You – The Supremes
Crying Time – Ray Charles
Well Respected Man – The Kinks
It Was a Very Good Year- Frank Sinatra
Ballad of the Green Berets – Sgt. Barry Sadler
These Boots Were Made for Walkin’ – Nancy Sinatra
Listen People – Herman’s Hermits
California Dreamin’ – The Mamas and the Papas
Homeward Bound – Simon and Garfunkel
