The Time Was August 1971
Albums Tracks 1971
Episode date - August 10, 2011
Like now, not all classic albums were hits back in 1971, and not all hits went on to become classics. Both the Partridge Family and Helen Reddy had big hit albums in 1971, but neither remains in print, as the demand to hear them tapered off sharply.
On the other hand, there were a number of albums that received little attention in their time, but have gone on to become recognized as significant artistic achievements, and still remain in print forty years later.
In this show, we dedicate our show to a few ‘sleeper’ albums that might have slipped through the cracks at the time of their release, but retain a strong dedicated fan base.
