    At some point in the seventies, live albums became ubiquitous.

    It seemed as though every touring artist released a live album as if it was a requirement. Most of them became little more than souvenirs of a tour and rarely contained anything genuinely new or interesting but in 1971, The Allman Brothers set an impossible standard with “At Fillmore East.”

    Containing only seven tracks over two albums, the band weaved their way through arrangements that could be called majestic in their scope. To my mind, it has yet to be equaled.
