We pick up our series at the tail end of 1964, with the entire music business reeling from Beatlemania. Even the other British acts are feeling the pressure put on by the overwhelming abilities of the Fab Four, and have trouble remaining relevant. In the course of one short year, the Beatles changed the music industry, and continually challenged all competitors with a musical growth that was as unprecedented as it was unpredictable.

This show begins and ends with a pair of songs by the Beatles, which is to be expected when covering the British Invasion, and also serves as an adequate representation for the British Invasion itself, which began squarely with “I Want to Hold Your Hand” and ended with “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”. From then on, it was ‘every band for itself’. Unfortunately, technical difficulties make it impossible for me to play our last track, so…now you know where we will begin next week!
