We started this series looking at blues artists Charlie Patton, Blind Lemon Jefferson and Blind Blake. It is no coincidence that we end it with their contemporaries.

As the sixties unfolded, several white artists and musicologists, mostly based in Greenwich Village, were digging deep into the past to uncover the forgotten history of those artists we covered in show number one.

Perhaps the most important result of dredging up America’s neglected and almost forgotten music legacy was the discovery of other artists who were all but forgotten, or presumed dead. Therefore, history allows us to end this series almost exactly as it began – with the Blues.
