As 1966 rolled around, the Rolling Stones couldn’t have been in a better spot. They had a few of the biggest hits of 1965 under their belts, and they suddenly found themselves at the forefront of a radical cultural shift, with the youth movement finding its identity mostly through the music and imagery of their generation’s music makers.

Suddenly, the ‘bad boy’, ‘anti-Beatle’ image that was created as a marketing device suddenly became quite real. In a sense, the band became their image, and they reveled in it. Their first move was to release an album that was a genuine collection of songs, rather than a slapdash hodgepodge of odds and ends. “Aftermath” was the first cohesive long player released by the Rolling Stones. With this show, we cover the first half of that seminal record.
