The Rolling Stones: Bad Boys of British Society
Episode 15
Episode date - November 22, 2013
While much of the western hemisphere reminisces on 1967 as the year that society changed and social mores were loosened, the Rolling Stones had a significantly different experience.
All of their posturing as the ‘bad boys’ of rock and roll brought them a lot of attention from the press. This was at first seen as a good thing, because more press ultimately translates into more fans. What the band did not expect, though, was that it also painted them as anathema to British society.
While the band luxuriated in their newfound fame and moved freely among the liberal cognoscenti, the conservative side of society started a last ditch attempt to save society and destroy the band. Therefore, the Stones perspective of 1967 was not about freedom, but about prejudiced judges and jail time. For Brian, this was the beginning of the end.
Somehow, they still managed to make music. This show mostly features tracks from “Between the Buttons”, their first LP release of 1967.
