    With the release of David Bowie’s first album in over ten years, I found myself reviewing his career for the past week or so. In the process, I discovered that I really disliked a lot of his work during the eighties. Then, as a point of comparison, I figured I’d review the pop music that was popular during that same era, only to discover that Bowie’s ‘badness’ was not a solo aberration.

    It seems as though music in general was going through a ‘bad hair’ phase, where normally reliable artists made awkward recordings, and new artists just raised the bar of tacky production and song topics even higher.

    Luckily, some stuff fared better artistically, and with this show, I try (very, very hard) to separate wheat from chaff, focusing mostly on the wheat – even if it resembles Sugar Smacks more than wheat thins.

    Here’s a list of tracks for this show;

    1) Let’s Dance - David Bowie

    2) Der Komissar – After the Fire (as a ‘Bad Hit’)

    3) Always Something There to Remind Me- Naked Eyes

    4) Sweet Dreams Are Made of This – Eurythmics

    5) Come Dancing – The Kinks

    6) Our House – Madness

    7) Every Breath You Take – The Police

    8) Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’ – Michael Jackson

    9) 1999 – Prince

    10) Big Log – Robert Plant
