The ‘80s were not (initially) particularly kind to our heroes, at least not from an artistic perspective.

Both John and Lou seemed to find new ground for a short while, especially when the New York music scene seemed to celebrate them without reservation, but that didn’t translate into an accepted relevance of their newer material. This show should – more or less – describe why they were ‘legendary’ but certainly not ‘contemporary’ heroes. Their music retained relevance but neither of the VU alumni seemed to be taking charge…yet.
