1966 marked the two-year mark for the British Invasion, and their hold on the pop charts was as strong as it was in 1964. With all of the diversity coming from across the Atlantic, it may very have been even stronger. By this time, the Beatles and the Stones appeared to be duking it out track by track for world domination, while Herman’s Hermits happily rested on their own laurels, with each single reliably rushing into the top 10.

During this show, we also make a quick encapsulated comparison of all the top 40 singles released by singing male duets Chad & Jeremy, as well as Peter & Gordon that we neglected to cover in past shows. Their relevance was waning by 1966, and perhaps this overview will convey all that needs to be known in order to understand why.
