The Great American Songbook:1927 - 1928
Episode 5
Episode date - February 4, 2022
Until I pulled together material for this specific show, I never knew just how many all-time classic songs were first published 1927-1928.
The number of timeless evergreens that date from that year is mind boggling, especially when you consider how many of these songs retain their original luster. I’m fond of saying that great songs never get old, but this show offers the best proof for that axiom that I’ve ever assembled, and it happened somewhat by accident, as I compiled the list for this series in chronological order.
Featured tracks include:
My Blue Heaven – Gene Austin
My Heart Stood Still – Ella Fitzgerald
Ol’ Man River – Paul Robeson
