The little known history of the Kinks betrays the band as a highly dysfunctional outfit that still somehow managed to make a seemingly endless stream of incredible music.

With each hit song, Ray Davies found himself getting more and more suspicious of his business partners, to the point where he ends up in the middle of a legal nightmare that then leads him to a state of deep depression. Music seems to be a means of escape for Davies, with the rock and roll lifestyle providing occasional moments of outrageous scenarios.
