    Before this record was released nobody had any idea who Black Sabbath was, and none of us had ever heard of Ozzy Osbourne.

    They were an obscure working class band from the bowels of Great Britain and their thoughts on music culture were significantly different from what most people would consider to be “popular”. They were dark and edgy. The lyrics were not particularly great, either - they indulged in fairy stories and  macabre weirdness, which was not a normal part of pop culture at the time.

    Few (if any) critics liked it when it first came out, but a subculture of fans grew around the album, making it one of the most unpredictably influential albums of the early ‘70s. Say hello to ‘Heavy Metal’.

    Featured tracks include;

    Black Sabbath

    The Wizard

    Wasp/Behind the Wall of Sleep/Basically/N.I.B.

    Wicked World

    A Bit of Finger/Sleeping Village/Warning
