    Up until now, all of the shows in this series focused on the development of individual studios. We spent our first show discussing Hi Records (and their studio, Royal Recording), three shows on Rick Hall and Fame Records and last week’s show on the birth of American Studios.

    This week, we see how the personnel from these studios start to overlap considerably, with players and producers traveling to each other’s facility in the search of a hit recording. What is most interesting about this development is the role played by Atlantic Records, a New York label, to facilitate the talent from each studio in pursuit of a sound that would come define the cutting edge of American Soul music.

    Featured tracks include;

    1) In the Midnight Hour – Wilson Pickett

    2) Land of 1,000 Danes – Wilson Pickett

    3) Something You Got – Wilson Pickett

    4) Mercy. Mercy – Wilson Pickett
