With this show, we cover the last side of the last album that the Beatles recorded together. It is doubtful that a more fitting ending could be concocted.

Side Two of ‘Abbey Road’ is the ‘medley’ side, at the conclusion of which the Beatles somehow manage to summarize the lyrical intent of their entire career. “…and in the end, the love you make is equal to then love you take” are remarkable words to part by, and the accompanying medley of songs that build to that conclusion sounds so unified that it only exacerbates the pain of knowing that the dream was over.

And so, so our coverage of the Beatles comes to an end…well, not quite. We will add a postscript to our coverage in the next show.
