After concluding an amazingly successful but thoroughly brutal year, it was time to make plans for the upcoming year.

The basic plan? Repeat the formula from the previous year, only this time the Beatles were learning to say ‘no’. They still planned to release two albums of fresh material, film a movie and tour Britain and the U.S., but this time they were determined to move along at their own pace.

As the year unfolded, the band completed obligations to the BBC (their final live appearances on British radio, while prepping a few tracks for singles and working up songs for their next LP.
